«"Dawn at the Antipodes," Logbooks kept in the form of brief analog notes, 1966. A book-object comprising 7 etchings, published in an edition of 77 copies on Arches wove paper and 15 numbered Hors-Commerce copies (A to O) (ours is Hors-Commerce, numbered K/O). Text by Alain Jouffroy, published by Le Soleil Noir. Magritte icons cut from the cover (glass, dove, leaf, pipe), and the cover is signed and numbered Hors-Commerce in pencil. A small bell can be heard when the book is opened. Incomplete work (does not include the 7 external signed and numbered etchings).
Good overall condition.
210 x 162 x 50 mm.
Magritte produced very few engraved works and there is no other book-object, “Dawn at the Antipode” is a major work.
